DMAA Analysis – Laboratory Testing Services
DMAA which is also called methylhexanamine has no recognized medical use at this time. It was originally used and marketed as a type of nasal decongestant back in the 1940’s. It was brought back into the light when the compound began to be used in pre-exercise, weight loss, and other nutritional supplements back in 2006.
DMAA affects the body in a way similar to but less intense than amphetamine through its effects as a stimulant to the central nervous system. DMAA can be easily abused by its users, is currently restricted for use by several countries, and is on the prohibited list of the World Anti-Doping Agency. Restrictions to use include regulations put in place by the FDA which ban DMAA for use in nutritional supplements.
The quantification and study of DMAA in nutritional supplements is important to determine the true danger that ingredient poses to its users. For this reason, and to ensure a product meets all governmental and industrial regulations so it can be sold within certain markets, it is important to develop and establish a method that reliably detects the compound.
Avomeen can test nutritional supplements for DMAA.
